Brian is the owner/director of Xcelerate Physical Therapy in Newtown Square, PA where he treats a multitude of orthopedic and outpatient musculoskeletal conditions. Brian has been a Physical Therapist for over 20 years. He holds both a Masters of Physical Therapy and a Bachelor of Health Sciences from University of Sciences in Philadelphia, PA and an MBA from Penn State.
Brian, his wife Palma, and their 5 children are proud residents of Broomall. Brian is very active in the community. In 2007 he and Palma founded Brian's Pride, an organization to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Brian has been a JDRF volunteer ever since starting the team. In 2012 he became a board member for JDRF. In 2013 he received the JDRF Eastern PA Rookie of the Year, was chosen chairman for the Philadelphia chapter of the JDRF walk in 2013, 2014, & 2015, and he was the winner of the 2015 JDRF Eastern PA Passion Award. In 2016 Brian's Pride was renamed Brian's Pride and Clare's Bears.
Brian has also been a coach for Newtown Square Petticoat softball league, Marple Township Little League, Saint Anastasia girls softball, Saint Anastasia 5th and 6th grade baseball, and Saint Anastasia Varsity football team. He is an active member of the St. Anastasia CYO having served as President from 2015-2017.
Andrew Tavernia joined Xcelerate Physical Therapy in 2016 as a PRN PT, becoming a full time staff Therapist in 2017. He has over 20 years of professional experience and holds a Physical therapy degree from Northeastern University. Andrew enjoys the challenge of finding not only the cause of a patient's injury/impairment, but also developing a plan to match the patient and his/her goals. He likes hands on/manual therapy, as well as Orthopedic and sports therapy. Andrew has worked in New York, Maryland, and most recently here in Pennsylvania, as a staff PT, a clinic director, and a home care therapist.
When he is not in the clinic, Andrew can be found playing volleyball, mountain biking, and running marathons. Fairly new to the area, he and his wife enjoy exploring/hiking local parks and trails, attending local events, and spending time with friends.
